Eligibility

Students Support Services, a federally funded TRIO, grant program, serves undergraduate students who meet the following program requirements:
  1. First-generation college student (neither parent/guardian has graduated from a 4-year institution) 
  2. Income eligible (as determined annually by the federal government) 
  3. Or have a disability and be registered with WVU’s Office of Student Accommodations

BENEFITS

Student Support Services Participants have access to these FREE services:

  • Individualized tutoring
  • Assistance with the financial aid process
  • Academic Advising
  • Variety of activities, events, and programs 
  • Computer workstations
  • Personal one-on-one support from trained SSS professionals

Your Next Steps

Students
Once accepted into the program students must complete the following requirements in order to remain an active participant:
  • Meet once a semester with your SSS Counselor to complete an Individualized Success Plan (ISP).  View our most current ISP.
  • If you are a new WVU Student, you must successfully complete the SSS Service Learning class. 
  • If you are a new WVU Student who is in a pre-major program or undecided, you need to successfully complete the SSS First Year Seminar class.  
  • Be proactive and help us help you- take advantage of the services and staff available to you in the program.
  • Maintain contact with the WVU SSS Staff

Become a tutor

WVU SSS hires undergraduate and graduate students to work as tutors. Tutors meet with SSS program participants on an individual basis.
