I am a hands-on engineering leader who strives to lead from the front; writing code daily, crafting the user experience, and more recently, championing an AI-first development mindset whenever possible.
My fascination with UI development began early, tinkering as a kid on my father's Mac and later in high school learning JavaScript as my first programming language. When someone asks what I wanted to do when I grew up, my answer is easy: what I do every day for work. Today, I'm building a front-end UI that billions of people use every day with Google Search, and I'm grateful to be living that childhood dream. While I have evolved in my career to grow and lead teams, I still write code daily, crafting the product I work on, from the ground up.
Off the clock, I am a husband, a father to two daughters, and the owner of a white Labrador Retriever. I have too many hobbies that I keep busy with, but I think that's a good thing, for the most part.
I enjoy long trail runs and bike rides in the hills and I commute on my bike daily. Whether running or biking, I bring the same stamina and focus to my life and work in general.
I take my car to race tracks in Northern California several times a year and previously built a car that my friends and I raced in 24 Hours of Lemons for many years. I do my own wrenching (mostly successfully) because trying to understand a system from the inside out, whether a car or a codebase, it the only way to get to know the details.
I love to tinker, 3D print, and do DIY projects. Transforming abstract ideas into tangible things keeps my problem-solving skills sharp and keeps me grounded in reality.
