the bird tracker.

i like to go birding in my free time. it's fascinating to watch the variety of species change with the seasons and a bit alarming to see how distributions of certain species shift as more of the area is claimed by concrete and steel.1 but it is also just, generally, quite peaceful to watch a bird about its business.

i encourage you to go out, meet and learn the names of your feathered neighbours. here are mine, organised by date, species and count.

1. for instance, swifts were unheard of on this side of town until recently. possibly due to more pockets of stagnant water leading to an increase in insect populations. but i'm not a scientist.
