Outreach Radio

OUTREACH RADIO broadcasts across Hampshire, the South Coast and the Isle of Wight on DAB Digital Radio, giving us a population coverage of almost 2 million. We’re also available on Freeview channel 277, online via our website and via apps such as Radioplayer and Online Radio Box. We begun life as Lockdown 100.7 FM, a zero revenue voluntary service broadcasting under a temporary FM licence for radio stations supporting local communities during the Coronavirus pandemic & lockdown in March 2020. Our 100.7 FM licence was extended twice by OfCom, allowing us broadcast continuously to Chandler’s Ford, Eastleigh, North Baddesley, Romsey and surrounding areas for nearly six months, until September 2020. During our time on FM and online, we developed an amazing and overwhelming level of interest and support from listeners of all ages, local businesses, charities, voluntary groups, churches and local authorities, which led us to seek a way to continue this work and establish ourselves as a permanent radio service. Shortly after rebranding to OUTREACH RADIO in September 2020, (thinking the lockdown was over!), a permanent DAB licence for Hampshire & the Isle of Wight was granted alongside a second temporary FM licence for 100.7 FM, under which broadcasts recommenced in November 2020. Our ability to serve local communities across Hampshire and go from a small-scale service to a commercially capable entity with immense coverage in approximately eight months, in the middle of a pandemic, gives an insight into our values and ethos, and the lengths we will go to in supporting our communities and listeners.
