David Causier defeated Robert Hall 742-272 in the final of the World Billiards English Open at the Landywood Snooker Club.

Causier beat Hall in a repeat of the 2024 World Billiards Championship final to make a perfect start to the Landywood Snooker Club double-header which sees the English Open followed by the flagship World Championship.

A total of 60 players competed in the level three ranking event and Causier stormed through the group stages with victories over Ron Bickerdike, Akhilesh Mohan, Charlie Kane and Steve Hassack.

Causier showed incredible scoring form as breaks of 264, 269, 303 and 212 saw him past John Mullane and Peter Sheehan to reach the title match.

Last year’s World Championship runner-up Hall was the opponent in the final after he had beaten India’s Rishabh Thakkar in the last four.

There was only one winner, however, as a top visit of 402 saw Causier to a 742-272 victory. The reigning world champion will now be looking to defend his World Championship title at the same venue with the final set to take place at the Landywood Snooker Club on 16 October.

The World Billiards Championship takes place at the Landywood Snooker Club on 13-16 October and live streaming can be viewed on YouTube here.
