Gerard Greene defeated Jamie Curtis-Barrett 4-2 in the final of the third World Seniors Tour event at The Crucible Club in Reading.

The former professional is the third different winner of a title this season, following Alfie Burden and Dharminder Lilly, and climbs to fifth in the one-year ‘Race to the Crucible’ ranking list.

Forty-six players from four nations embarked on the Berkshire venue and Greene started strongly with wins against John Daly (4-0), Andrew Sheehan (4-2) and Brian Salmon (4-1) to reach the quarter-finals.

Breaks of 95 and 94 helped the former ranking event runner-up to a 4-1 victory over Karl Townsend to set up a semi-final meeting with Aaron Canavan.

The former World Seniors Snooker Championship winner from Jersey took the opener but Greene quickly pulled away with a top contribution of 74 to reach the title match as a 4-1 victor.

Former English Amateur champion Curtis-Barrett was his final opponent and the two players shared the first four frames of the best-of-seven frame contest.

From there, Greene showed his class and completed the victory with a break of 55 to take home the title.

Milliard Wins Super Seniors

Andy Milliard beat Andrew Norman 2-0 to win the Super Seniors title on Sunday in Reading.

Milliard came through a field of 19 players aged over 55 at the The Crucible Club to win a first Super Seniors title of the new campaign.

Consecutive whitewash victories over Paul Burrell, Andrew Barrett and John Morris saw Milliard into the semi-finals where he then overcame Super Seniors number one John Hunter in a deciding frame.

The title match saw him face former professional Norman, but it was Milliard who proved to be the strongest player on the day as he ran out a 2-0 victor to secure the title.
