Zak Surety compiled snooker’s 201st official maximum break against Ding Junhui at the 2024 World Open in Yushan and reached the semi-finals of the same event one year later.
Wins against Si Jiahui, Jordan Brown, Duane Jones, Liu Hongyu and Tom Ford saw Surety reach the last four of a ranking event for the first time before losing out to John Higgins in a deciding frame.
A few weeks later, Surety qualified for the stages of the World Championship for the first time with qualifying round victories over Antoni Kowalski, Jack Lisowki and Ricky Walden. On his Crucible Theatre debut, he lost 10-7 for former finalist Ding Junhui.
First turning professional in 2014, he regained his place on the World Snooker Tour in August 2020 following his successful qualification from Q School with a 4-1 victory against Leo Fernandez.
From Basildon, the Englishman first enjoyed a two-year spell as a professional from 2014-16, thrice reaching the last 32 of events at the 2015 China Open, 2016 European Masters and 2020 Scottish Open.
