Text about the changing the municipal flag of Buritirama, Bahia:
https://informativodabahia.com.br/destaques/buritirama

June 15, 2019

Following a court order from the Barra District Court, which requested changes to the city's names and colors due to the practice of cultizing the personality of living individuals. Mayor Ded Alves previously used the red, white, and green colors of the city's monuments and public buildings. He submitted a bill to the Legislature, and the council members, in the exercise of their powers, approved the change to municipal law No. 008/97, which defined the colors of the city's flag and coat of arms.

Law No. 172/2019 was sanctioned by the municipal mayor Judisnei Alves de Souza, which changed the certain colors of the municipal flag and coat of arms to: GREEN, which represents our forests, WHITE, which represents peace, and ORANGE, which represents the color of the pulp of the buriti fruit, the original palm tree that bears the name of the municipality.

The COAT OF ARMS has changed colors to orange; in the center there will be a buriti palm tree with the horizon in the background representing the sunrise over the municipality's mountains.
