Municipality

The municipality of Miragua� (4,978 inhabitants in 2016; 13,043 ha) is located 370 km north-west of Porto Alegre.

Miragua� was established as Gramado de Serra, part of Tenente Portela.
The municipality of Miragua� was established on 15 December 1965. The new municipality's namesake is the Caingangue cacique who settled the region.
