A flag of the "al-Jama�ah al-Islamiyya" : الجماعة الإسلامية, "Assembly of
Islam" or "Islamic Group" (IG). It is a Sunni Islamist political party in
Lebanon. The IG was founded in 1964 as the Lebanese branch of the �Muslim
Brotherhood� (from Egypt). It was established by young members of �Ibad al
Rahman� (or the �Worshipers of the Merciful�). The IG�s military wing is the
"al-Fair Forces". This flag was observed in Lebanon atop the casket of Muhammad
Hamed Jabara, aka Abu Mahmoud, a senior commander of the IG's "al-Fajr Forces";
c. 19 July 2024. This white-field flag shows the group's logo at the top (but
with no red stripe), with probably the basic Muslim "shahada" ("profession of
faith") slogan at the bottom.
