sterker

sterker is located in Stockholm County. The area of the municipality corresponds to the parishes of Ljuster, Roslags-Kulla, sterker and stra Ryd and was established in 1862. It went through several changes via the kommunreformen 1952 (https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kommunreformen_1952), the incorporations of other lands in 1967 and in 1971, through the kommunreformen 1971 (https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/Kommunreformen_1971), it was formally established as a kommun (Municipality). From 1974 to 1982 sterker was merged with Vaxholm. sterkers and stra Ryds parishes were merged in 1992 and became sterker-stra Ryds Assembly until a split from a court ruling (https://sv.wikipedia.org/wiki/S%C3%B6dra_Roslags_domsaga) on April 1, 2007. kersberga is a locality and the seat of sterker Municipality.

The coat of arms (https://sv.wikipedia.org) was designed in 1957 and registered in 1982. It features a local sailing ship model (called Roslagsskuta), more specifically the "Alcea" which was built in 1888 by skipper Westerman who sold the boat in 1888 to Gustav Johansson in Svista in sseby, Stockholm county. The boat was 15 meters long and 5 meters wide. Alcea went offshore and transported timber and other heavy goods to and from sterker. In 1923, the ship was converted to a motor vessel and continued as a carrier until 1932 when it was scrapped and finally lowered in Stavaviken.
