Shield quartered, all quarters Azure parted from one another by thin black lines; in 1st quarter a cross fleury Argent, charged with a Greek cross Gules; in 2nd quarter a mitre Or garnished Argent with crosslets Azure; in 3rd quarter a capital "S" Argent, in 4th quarter a capital "P" Argent and an irregular annulet of the same. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and blue scroll with inscription in black capitals "S�O PEDRO DE RATES".
