Shield Argent a chestnut tree eradicated Vert fructed Or, in chief a six pointed estoile Azure, on base wavy Azure a barrulet wavy Argent.
Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll reading
in black upper case serifed letters "CASTANHEIRA - TRANCOSO".
Meaning:
The word "_castanheira_" means "chestnut tree" with the female form is meaning a larger tree); the arms are partly canting.
The star on the arms refers possibly to the Star Range (_Serra da Estrela_, q.v.), although it lays some 20 km to the south, and it is unusually shown here with 6 points, instead of the usual 5.
The wavy base on the arms very likely stands for the Teja River.
