One of the most used services is ARNES’ email. Each year, more than 115 million emails are delivered to our users' inboxes.

National Internet infrastructure

At ARNES, we maintain a vital national infrastructure, which is a precondition for the operation of the Internet in Slovenia.

The Registry for the .si top-level domain ensures the registration of domains under .si. We manage the top DNS infrastructure servers for .si.

By maintaining the national incident response center SI-CERT, we manage the security of electronic networks and information.

With SIX.SI, the Slovenian Internet exchange point, we provide local exchange of traffic between providers of internet, content and roaming.

ARNES is connected to the GÉANT pan-European network at a speed of 400 Gb/s. The connections lead to hubs in Zagreb and Milan.

Activities

At ARNES, we participate in various projects in the field of computer networks and information society.

We are involved in the Slovenian Open Science Community and in international collaborations concerning open science.

We coordinate the operation of the consortium for the development of supercomputing in Slovenia. We also represent Slovenia in the European supercomputing infrastructure.

We promote the use of supercomputing infrastructures for research in science, industry, academia, and public services.

We manage the central portal of the Slovenian educational portal - SIO, which is a connecting information point for various e-communities.

We manage the national information security awareness program, which received the Slovenian Grand Prize for Security.

We support the operation of the National Center for Safer Internet, which acts as a national awareness point for children and teenagers on the safe use of the Internet and mobile devices.

In 1992, ARNES registered its first domain with the .si domain name. As of this day, Register.si has been managing the Slovenian domain name, with more than 150,000 domains registered.

Cooperation

At ARNES, we cooperate with national educational and research networks in other countries. We are co-founders of the GÉANT network and we participate in several international organizations.
