00:00My name is Greg Hadrick and I have a book coming out very soon called The Mushroom Murders which
00:07is about the trial of Erin Patterson. Tell us why people are so fascinated with this case.
00:11I think part of what's fascinating is that the people who always ask that question are the people
00:16who are most fascinated about the case and they're wondering why they're fascinated. I believe like
00:22many people it is so unusual to have a murderer like Erin. I think that's why people find it
00:29endlessly fascinating is to try and understand someone who looks like them who is a mum with
00:37two kids living a quiet life in a rural town. No criminal background whatsoever in any of
00:46you know the background or family and yet she murdered three people and I think it's the
00:54disconnect between the life she led and the family life that she embraced and then the
00:59actions she did and that the gap between those two is so big compared to what most people
01:08understand and would conceive murderers to be and I think that's why there's this ongoing
01:13fascination with this case.
