2025 Volkswagen ID. Buzz price and specs: Electric Kombi due in December

The electric VW ID. Buzz will arrive in Australia in four variants, with three eligible for an FBT exemption, and an all-wheel-drive GTX range-topper.

  • 2025 Volkswagen ID. Buzz pricing and specifications
  • Available as a three-seat panel van, and a five- or seven-seat people mover
  • Electric Kombi due in Australia in December
  • Priced from $79,990 before on-road costs

Prices for the 2025 Volkswagen ID. Buzz – a modern, all-electric take on the iconic Kombi – have been confirmed for Australia ahead of its arrival before the end of the year.

Due in showrooms before Christmas in short-wheelbase Cargo form, and a short- or long-wheelbase Pro people mover, the ID. Buzz will also be available with a range-topping all-wheel-drive GTX variant set to arrive in Australia in the first months of 2025.

The German-built van starts from $79,990 before on-road costs for the short-wheelbase ID. Buzz Cargo – almost $20,000 more than the electric LDV eDeliver 7 from China, but less than a Mercedes-Benz eVito.

Meanwhile, the five-seat ID. Buzz Pro short-wheelbase people carrier is priced from $87,990 and the long-wheelbase seven-model costs $91,290 – placing all models below the threshold for the Luxury Car Tax for fuel-efficient vehicles, making them exempt from the fringe benefits tax.

The ID. Buzz line-up rises to $109,990 for the top-of-the-range GTX LWB seven-seater – less than an LDV Mifa 9 or Mercedes-Benz EQV electric people mover – although several options are available at an added cost.

Like Volkswagen’s other electric vehicles – the ID.3, ID.4 and ID.5 – the ID. Buzz has been a long time coming for Australia, with a concept version first unveiled at the 2017 Detroit motor show before the production model debuted in 2022.

Volkswagen Commercial Vehicles director Ryan Davies said the brand has received almost 7000 expressions of interest for its electric van to date.

Based on the same dedicated MEB architecture as the ID.3, ID.4 and ID.5 – and other electric cars from Audi, Skoda and Cupra – the ID. Buzz features an 77kWh lithium-ion battery for short-wheelbase models, or an 85kWh battery pack for long-wheelbase variants.

Driving range ratings between 461km and 487km are claimed in Europe, based on official evaluations on the WLTP testing cycle, with final numbers for Australia due to be confirmed closer to launch.

The Cargo includes a rear-mounted 210kW/550Nm electric motor, with the Pro adding a further 10Nm, while the GTX also has a front 80kW/134Nm motor for all-wheel drive and combined 250kW output.

As detailed here, other changes for the GTX include a unique front bumper, black exterior trim, 19- or 21-inch alloy wheels, an exclusive Cherry Red paint finish, microfleece upholstery with red stitching, a black headliner, and GTX branding on the seats and steering wheel.

Full specification details for the GTX – including available options and colours for Australia – will be announced closer to its arrival early next year.

The 2025 Volkswagen ID. Buzz Cargo and Pro will arrive in Australia in December 2024, with the GTX set to follow early next year.
