2025 Hyundai Staria price and specs: Safety feature deleted as prices rise
The Hyundai Staria people-mover has gained new features, including a vehicle tracking app for your smartphone – but prices are up, and a safety feature has been removed.
- 2025 Hyundai Staria pricing and specifications
- Bluelink phone app support, rain-sensing wipers added to some models
- Blind-spot monitoring can no longer apply the brakes
- Priced from $49,500 before on-road costs
An item of safety technology has been deleted from the 2025 Hyundai Staria people-mover range in an update that increases prices – and adds new features elsewhere in the vehicle.
The blind-spot alert system in the Staria people-mover can no longer brake or steer away from hazards it detects – rather only warn the driver with audible and visual alerts – as part of a Model Year 2025 (MY25) update.
Hyundai attributes the switch in blind-spot systems – now called Blind-Spot Warning rather than Blind-Spot Collision Avoidance Assist – to a "production change" outside of the Australian division's control, a spokesperson said.
The five-star ANCAP safety rating remains unchanged, as blind-spot warning systems do not form a key part of the independent crash-testing authority's testing.
The MY25 update sees prices increase by $500 across the range, though new technology has been added – including a switch from USB-A to USB-C plugs for the power sockets available to second- and third-row passengers.
Elite and Highlander models are now fitted with rain-sensing wipers and a new key fob, in the shape of a Hyundai logo.
These models also gain five years of free support for a Bluelink smartphone app, with remote unlocking/locking, vehicle tracking, cabin pre-heating or cooling, an automatic collision notification, emergency SOS function, and the ability to send routes to the car's satellite navigation system.
Similar updates have come to the delivery-van version of the Staria, the Staria Load.
Powering petrol Staria models is a 3.5-litre non-turbo V6 developing 200kW and 331Nm, matched with an eight-speed automatic transmission driving the front wheels. Claimed fuel consumption is 10.5L/100km.
Diesel models use a 2.2-litre turbo four-cylinder producing 130kW and 430Nm, also matched with an eight-speed auto, but with all-wheel drive. Claimed fuel use is 8.2L/100km.
The 2025 Hyundai Staria is available in showrooms now.
