Project Overview
The concept of the Prime Ministers Path started in 2013 with a group of citizens raising money to honour Canada’s political history. Read the Project History document for a full timeline.
The public engagement process was result of a March 2024 Wilmot Council decision to create a Working Group to help shape the future of the path. Read the Project Engagement Plan for details about engagement activities.
In May 2025, the Working Group released a set of recommendations based on community feedback. Read the Working Group Recommendations to learn more about the outcome of the public engagement process.
Council Decision
At its July 28 meeting, Council voted unanimously to reinstall the Prime Ministers Path Statues at their original location. Read the media release for full details.
Steering Committee
Part of Council's decision to reinstate the Prime Minister's Path included the establishment of a volunteer Community Steering Committee.
This cross-sector committee will guide the final design and implementation with transparent, accountable leadership. Members will oversee the core project pillars, which include:
- Funding
- Inclusion
- Education
- Location/Site Design
- Truth and Reconciliation
Each project pillar will have a lead person on the committee. The committee should include diverse community members, subject-matter experts and professionals.
The committee will co-create its terms of reference, subject to Council review.
