Police criticised after releasing efit of man connected with alleged robbery in Cliftonville

Police have been criticised for releasing the 'worst efit ever seen' following a reported robbery.

Kent Police sent out a computer generated image of a man they would like to speak to after a 75-year-old man was reportedly robbed in Cliftonville.

But when the image was posted on their Facebook page it received numerous bemused responses - with some members of the public claiming it is the worst they have ever seen and comparing it to a Flintstones character - casting doubts over the effectiveness of the appeal.

The efit was issue after the victim told officers he was approached by a man who pushed his head into a wall before being joined by two more men who removed cigarettes from his pocket.

The alleged incident happened in an alleyway between Dalby Square and Athelstan Road, close to a car park, at around 10.30am on September 26.

The victim managed to fight them away and all three ran off down Athelstan Road in the direction of Northdown Road.

A police spokesman said: "The first suspect to approach the victim was wearing a dark-coloured body warmer and had dark brown hair.

"He is described as being dark European and having a stocky build. He was unshaven and had collar length hair.

"The other two men are both described as being dark European and aged between 19 and 21.

"One was about 6 foot in height with a slim build and clean shaven. He had short, mousey hair and was wearing a black leather blouson, blue jeans and dirty white trainers.

"The other was about 5 feet 10 inches and was also clean shaven with a thin build. He was wearing blue jeans and a green jumper. He also had a large gold ring on his right hand."
