We are pleased to share that the Stuart A. Rose Manuscript, Archives, and Rare Book Library at Emory University is thrilled to receive a $280,000 grant from Getty (@gettymuseum) through the Black Visual Art Archives program. This multi-year program aims to increase access to important archival collections across the country that hold records related to works created by Black artists. Grants provide archivists with wider capacity to organize, catalogue, and digitize materials, as well as activate archives through creative projects like exhibitions, programming, and more. Grantees include: Amistad Research Center, Cal State LA, Chicago Public Library, Clark Atlanta University, Emory University, Fisk University, Lincoln University of Pennsylvania, New York Public Library, Smithsonian’s Anacostia Community Museum, Visual AIDS. And good news—grant applications for future funding will be accepted on an ongoing basis. Contact [email protected] to learn how to get involved.

Tune in to your local PBS Atlanta station tonight at 9 pm to see the short film on "This Land Calls Us Home," our current exhibition honoring the deep connection between land and identity through the work of 25 contemporary Native American artists. The film is a result of a great collaboration – read more about it in Shannon's comment below, where you'll find a link with additional viewing times in case you miss it tonight.
I build brands through innovative content, programs, and partnerships for engagement, growth, and the greater good.
Tune-in alert! Great collaborations require generosity, patience, and many skillful contributors, and Emory Libraries is proud to collaborate with WABE to air a new feature program on the latest public exhibition in the Schatten Gallery of Woodruff Library, “This Land Calls Us Home: Indigenous Relationships with Southeastern Homelands.” The program first airs tonight, 9pm ET, on WABE and throughout the month of July. A big thank you to Alison Hashimoto and Jessica Silva at WABE for opening the door to arts and culture programming from Emory, Miranda Kyle and Mekko Chebon Kernell for curating the exhibition and serving as hosts of the program, and videographer/producer Andrew Alonso (my former Turner Classic Movies colleague!) for his great talent and patience in producing shows for Emory. It has been a group effort, and we hope you’ll tune in tonight to see the enjoy the show! For the full programming schedule and to learn more, visit https://lnkd.in/ejAVivjS

Welcome to Amanda J. Wilson, the new associate university librarian and director of the Woodruff Health Sciences Center Library at Emory University! Amanda comes to us from the National Library of Medicine, where she served as the deputy director of the User Services and Collection Division. She has worked at NLM in positions of increasing responsibility since 2017 and brings library experience from both the academic and the federal government arenas. Amanda is not only returning to Emory as an alum (she earned her BA with a double major in music and psychology), she’s also returning to the Emory Libraries – as a student, she worked in the Robert W. Woodruff Library interlibrary loan department and e-reserves, then as a temporary library assistant! She’s also a champion of health literacy and the fight against health misinformation in communities, topics on which she has published and presented. We’re excited to have her on our team! Amanda starts her new position on Monday, Aug. 25. We're celebrating Asian American and Pacific Islander (AAPI) Heritage Month with this good news: Five of our librarians have spent the last year building the Georgia Asian American Community Archive Initiative (GAACAI). It started as a way to explore and improve resources for Asian American Studies, but as they searched local archives, special collections, and historical societies, they found very few resources focused on Asian Americans in the South. And they set out to change that. Find out how in the blog that's linked below! Not only are they working with individuals and businesses to collect materials, but they hold zine workshops and other events that bring people together and foster storytelling opportunities! (Org website link in the blog) 🎉Kudos to our Emory librarians ❤️on your dedication and hard work: Erica Bruchko, librarian for African American & US History Studies, Asian American Studies Pakeeza Hameed, science librarian for Biology & Neuroscience Saira Raza, business librarian, Goizueta Business Library Gautham Reddy, South Asian Studies librarian Chella Vaidyanathan, European/World History & Philosophy librarian Follow GAACAI on IG: @gaacai_ Emory University Emory College of Arts and Sciences Emory University - Goizueta Business School https://lnkd.in/gyJZQh6p
