Two weeks since TDC - Trondheim's tech connection spot wrapped up and we're still carrying the inspiration into the winter darkness💡🎯 The big inflatable yellow rubber duck was a fun sight and the first thing we saw before entering the venue, signaling a fun, goofy developer vibe 🦆💛. Day highlights: We started with Thomas Seltzer with Thomas Seltzer on possible futures for the United States in an AI-shaped world 🤖. Then learned about the "Strangler Fig" pattern for modernizing legacy systems – directly applicable to our current work since we're currently rewriting old React class components into function components 🐉 . Security was a theme too 🔒. From social engineering to what-not-to-do stories, those hacking talks did nothing to calm our paranoia. On the UX front, we picked up better ways to learn from users and their workflows 👥. There was also a session about dark patterns. Let's just say we're painfully aware now and a lot less forgiving when we spot them. We closed with "The Secret Ingredient to Bad Decisions" 🧠, about manipulation and priming the mind to answer questions in a specific way. I, for example, got tricked into answering a kids' question wrong. Thanks to TDC for a successful and interesting event with lots of great talks.
