When our community comes together, incredible things happen. In just one month, more than 200 donors have helped raise nearly half of our $3 million goal for this school year's immediate needs, funding classroom supplies, student success programs, and book drives that support every child and every teacher. Since 2021, the Book with Purpose program has brought our community together around one central theme by distributing thousands of free copies of a featured book and sparking meaningful dialogue across Winston-Salem. This year's selection is The Sum of Us by Heather McGhee, which explores how racism in policymaking has created an economy where everyone suffers and how we can build a more equitable future together. Yesterday was PEA's Bi-Annual Sustainability Roundtable, and we could not be more excited about the energy and passion that our community brought to this room yesterday. The main goal of this event is to convene the people in our community and to turn intentional conversations into vehicles for meaningful and large-scale change 🌍 Yesterday, we had more than 70 environmental stakeholders, business owners, educators, faith leaders, and more at the table to discuss real issues in our community around environment and sustainability and to create the connections needed to create action plans for the upcoming year.
