At Pinsent Masons, our partnership with the 10,000 Black Interns Foundation is more than a programme. It’s a commitment to opening doors for Black talent and unlocking potential. Over the past three years, we’ve welcomed 29 students for 6-week internships. Of those, 14 have progressed into training. These numbers reflect real lives changed and futures shaped. One of those futures belongs to Tyler. "My internship at Pinsent Masons through the 10,000 Interns programme was a proud moment. It felt like a breakthrough, a chance to step into the legal world and prove myself beyond textbooks and exams." Tyler’s internship didn’t just offer exposure. It led directly to a traineeship — a turning point in his journey. "I initially saw the internship as a chance to learn. But it became so much more. Being offered a training contract was a powerful reminder that when you're given the chance to show your potential beyond exam results, amazing things can happen." Now a Trainee Solicitor, Tyler reflects with optimism. "The experience has made me feel incredibly positive about my future. With the right support and determination, anything is possible." We’re proud to stand alongside 10,000 Interns in building a more inclusive legal profession, one story at a time.

September is World Alzheimer’s Month… a time to raise awareness and honour the strength of those impacted by Alzheimer’s, and the loved ones who support them. Shannon Urquhart's mum was diagnosed with Alzheimer’s four years ago. Shannon, a Senior Lawyer at Pinsent Masons, shares her experience of supporting her mum from across the globe. "Living far away in Edinburgh from my parents in Canada has made it tough to witness the day-to-day changes, but I’ve found ways to stay connected and be useful. From joining support sessions and building a network, to dialling into doctor’s appointments and setting up weekly FaceTime reading sessions with my kids, these small actions have made a big difference." Her mum now reads more than she has in years, has started exercising, and continues to live life with remarkable strength. "Advocating for her treatment early on was a turning point. It reminded me how important it is to speak up for our loved ones, especially when they’re not used to asking for help. I’m really grateful for the support I’ve had at Pinsent Masons. It meant I could be present when it mattered most." Shannon’s story is a reminder that even from afar, love, advocacy and small acts of care can make a lasting impact.
