Your resume does not have to be one page. Repeat after me: your resume does not have to be one page. Page one needs to be great, but take the space you need to tell your story clearly and concisely. Tips below on how to do it.
📄 Unpopular opinion: The 'one-page resume' rule is dead. Here's what hiring managers actually care about: I've reviewed thousands of resumes. And I can tell you: Pages? I literally don't count them. Here's what I actually care about: 1️⃣ Can I find your relevant experience in 10 seconds? Your resume needs to be scannable. If I have to hunt for your key accomplishments, it doesn't matter if it's one page or five—I'm moving on. 2️⃣ Is every bullet point earning its space? Don't fill space just to fill it. And don't cut valuable accomplishments just to hit an arbitrary page limit. Quality over quantity, always. 3️⃣ Does it tell a coherent story? Your resume should show clear progression and impact. If cramming everything onto one page breaks that narrative, you're hurting yourself. The truth? Senior professionals with 15 years of experience trying to fit everything onto one page just creates unreadable, tiny-font chaos. Here's a better guideline: → 3-5 years of experience? One page probably makes sense. → 10+ years of experience? Two pages is perfectly fine. → 15+ years of experience? Two pages is expected. The real rule: Make it easy to read and make every word count. Stop stressing about page count. Start focusing on whether your content is clear, compelling, and relevant to the role you're applying for. What outdated resume 'rule' are you still following? Build a clean, scannable resume with Teal's Resume Builder: https://lnkd.in/gJSNk4FN 👍 If this frees you from the one-page stress. ♻️ Reshare to help someone stop overthinking page count. 🔔 Follow me for more job search & resume tips.

Your resume isn't being read. It's being skimmed, scanned, and judged—in under 10 seconds. Most job seekers spend hours perfecting every word, not realizing that recruiters follow a completely different reading pattern. They scan in an F-shape. They look at titles first. And they decide whether to keep reading based on your first bullet in each position. David Fano, Teal CEO and Founder, has hired thousands of people and reviewed tens of thousands of resumes. In this video, he breaks down exactly how recruiters evaluate resumes—and the formula that gets you to the interview. Here's what most job seekers miss: ⏱️ Resumes get read in 3 stages: the skim (under 2 seconds), the scan (~10 seconds), and—if you pass both—the study (1+ minute) 👁️ Recruiters read in an F-pattern: down the spine first, scanning titles and keywords before they ever read your bullets 🎯 Your first bullet in each position is your hook—if it's weak, they move on to the next candidate 🔑 Keywords aren't optional: recruiters filter applicants by specific skills, so if you're missing "Adobe Illustrator" on a design role, you're invisible 📐 The achievement formula that works: Result + Metric + Context (not responsibilities—results) THE RESULT: - You stop getting filtered out before a human ever sees your resume. - Your first bullet does the heavy lifting. - You show the 10% of you that's 100% relevant to them. Remember: Recruiters aren't reading your resume—they're testing it. Pass the test and they'll keep going. 🎬 Watch the full breakdown → https://lnkd.in/exANY8wZ #Resume #JobSearch #ResumeTips #HiringManagers #CareerAdvice #JobSearchTips #ResumeWriting #Recruiters #ATSResume #Teal 👍 If this changes how you think about resume writing ♻️ Reshare to help someone finally understand how recruiters actually read 🔔 Follow Teal for more insider hiring insights

The job search does not happen in a vacuum. It happens in a market and a competitive one at that. So even if you check all the boxes, sometimes you need to go above and beyond to stand out from the pack. Some tips below on how to do that.
🏆 The hiring process isn't a TEST. It's a CONTEST. Being qualified doesn't guarantee you'll win: You've got all the right skills. Your resume has the keywords. You crushed the recruiter screen. But here's the reality: you're competing against other qualified candidates in a tight market. Just checking the boxes isn't enough anymore. You need to differentiate yourself. Here's how to stand out from the pack: 1️⃣ Show genuine enthusiasm Communicate what excites you about the organization in your resume and cover letter—without being cheesy or pandering. Make it authentic and specific. 2️⃣ Establish contextual familiarity If the company is B2C, highlight your B2C experience. If they're enterprise-focused, emphasize that background. These connections often aren't spelled out in job descriptions, but they matter. 3️⃣ Prove you've done the job before Look at the responsibilities section (not just requirements) in the job description. Then show exactly where you've done that work. Make those connections crystal clear. 4️⃣ Network and follow up After you apply, reach out to your network to see if you know anyone at the company. In a competitive market, you've got to go the extra mile. Being qualified gets you in the door. Standing out gets you the offer. H/t to Evan LaPointe for inspiring this post. Time is by far your most limited resource when it comes to job searching. Here's some great tips from Morgan on how to use it more efficiently:
Every minute you waste in the job search can cost you an interview. In this job market, speed is a critical part of your strategy, and most job seekers don’t realize how much opportunity is lost by moving slowly. According to data from LinkedIn and TalentWorks, applying within the first 72 hours of a job posting can make you up to 8x more likely to land an interview. And this is exactly why I’m excited to partner with Teal! It’s one of the only tools built specifically to help you move faster and more strategically in your job search. Here’s how: ✨ AI-Powered Bullet Tailoring Paste the job description and Teal will instantly rewrite your resume bullets to match the language, skills, and priorities that role is actually looking for. No more staring at a blank page. ✨ Side-by-Side Job Comparison Tool Teal breaks down each job posting so you can see exactly how your resume stacks up, what you’re missing, what to emphasize, and what will stand out to the recruiter. ✨ One-Click Resume Editing Instead of juggling 12 separate resume files, you can keep one comprehensive master resume and simply check or uncheck bullet points to include them. It turns resume editing into a 10-second task. As someone who’s worked in HR for years, I can tell you: hiring teams move quickly. The longer you wait, the more your chances shrink. If you want to give yourself a real advantage in 2025, start with the tools that help you apply sooner and smarter. 👉 Try Teal for free at https://tealhq.co/4rzdEuU Thanks to Teal for partnering on this post!

Great tips from Conor below on how to save time writing your resume
Spending hours rewriting your resume for every role is the marketing equivalent of rebuilding a landing page for every single ad click. Teal fixes that. Teal’s AI Resume Builder lets you build one master resume. Then spin out tailored versions in minutes. Like running structured campaigns instead of random boosts. Here is how I’d approach it as a marketer or SEO: 1/ Treat your resume like a landing page → One clear offer for one ideal role → Headline, proof, and CTA above the fold 2/ Build a single “master” resume in Teal → Dump every role, project, and metric into Teal → Tag achievements by skill, channel, and impact 3/ Create role-specific versions instead of starting over → Use Multiple Resume Versions for SEO, paid, lifecycle, brand → Toggle achievements on and off for each job in minutes 4/ Use Matching Mode like keyword research → Paste the JD and see the exact skills that matter → Adjust bullets so your experience mirrors their language 5/ Let AI handle structure, you supply the substance → Use AI Resume Bullets to tighten copy and add clarity → Keep your own wins, just packaged in cleaner language You stop wasting nights in Google Docs. You stop guessing what to include. You send fewer, sharper applications that actually match the role. This is how you should treat your resume. As a performance asset, not a static PDF.
