Differences between free and promoted jobs

Ready to post a job now?

You can post your job on LinkedIn and get matched with qualified candidates.

Post a job now

LinkedIn makes it easy to post jobs quickly and reach a wide network of professionals, including those who aren’t actively looking. You can choose between free or promoted posts to target the right candidates and fill roles efficiently.

Here's a tip

Hirers can now promote their jobs directly from both iOS and Android devices.

Free jobs

  • One free job at a time over 30 days.

  • Appear in search results and are searchable on LinkedIn.

  • Allow you to collect applicants on LinkedIn, and easily filter and manage your applicants.

  • Will be paused after being active for 14 days. You can promote your job to make it active and receive more applicants.

  • Will remain active but will be hidden from search results after reaching the free applicant limit. The job can still be accessed via a direct link or on your company's job tab.

Promoted jobs

  • Are shown at the top of search results and can include a Promoted tag.

  • Reach on average 3X more qualified applicants than free job posts.

  • Encourage candidates to apply to your job with instant mobile notifications of your job posting.

  • Notify you when a qualified candidate applies to your job.

  • Stay active until you close them or will expire after 6 months of being active.

  • Appear in highly visible placements in job recommendations.

  • Can receive unlimited applicants.

  • Set a daily average or total budget for your job.

Free job posts become less visible in search results over time to give newer job posts the opportunity to be seen by job seekers. When your job post receives a certain number of applications, it'll be paused and removed from search results. If you have shared a direct URL, through LinkedIn or through other channels, your job post will appear closed until you take action to unpause it. To unpause your job, you must promote it.

To ensure a fair and equitable balance between free and paid jobs and reduce job posting abuse, members can post a maximum of 1 free job at a time and a limited number of free jobs in a 30-day window.
