Sign-in security prompt for password reset

Last updated: 4 months ago

LinkedIn is committed to account safety and security, and provides features to help ensure your account is always secure. As an additional layer of security, LinkedIn may show you a sign-in security prompt  through your LinkedIn app when attempting to reset your password. You will receive a push notification prompt on your signed-in mobile device after clicking on Forgot password? and verifying your email.

To approve the password reset:

  1. Go to your device’s notifications and click on the prompt from LinkedIn.
  2. Tap Yes, it’s me if you initiated the password reset from another device. Tap No, it’s not me if you did not initiate the password reset from another device.
  3. Return to your original device to complete password reset.

If you receive a sign-in security prompt without initiating the request:

  1. Go to your device’s notifications and click on the prompt from LinkedIn.
  2. Tap “No, it’s not me” on the prompt. The sign-in attempt will be denied immediately. You will also be prompted to change your password (recommended) to protect your account.
