DESCRIPTION:
1. Introduction
Fuel pre-filter and fuel main filter for low grade fuel have been newly extended as Tier 2 specifi-
cations and Tier 3 specifications with EGR. Related parts for those are to be unified and intro-
duced here in this Service News.

1. Outline
Fuel pre-filter and fuel main filter for low grade fuel have been newly extended as Tier 2
specifications and Tier 3 specifications with EGR, and related parts for those are to be
unified.

Change of parts number has been implemented as shown bellow.

3. Reason of change
Common rail fuel injection system features high pressure injection and the dust in the fuel
harms durability of the system.
Because of above reason, high performance fuel filters have being used so far, but now
improved filters have been newly provided for low grade fuel specifications.
These new fuel filters are extended for current models usage.
Current parts' performance is good enough, current stocks are still usable for current
models.
4. Cautions for when replacing fuel filter
Common rail fuel injection system requires cleanliness of the fuel. Pay enough attention
not to allow any dust to enter into the fuel line at replacement.
Especially when replacing main fuel filter, do not pour any fuel into the cartridge to maintain
cleanliness of the fuel. (See Service News AT06282)
