Companies know that getting off to a good start is crucial to a

new employee’s long-term success at your company, so why not
invest the time and resources to ensure that your onboarding
process shapes that good start.

: The New Hire Roadmap

On their first day, new recruits join other new hires with
dedicated icebreakers and general learning about the company
culture. New employees grab sticky notes, and write their name
and a headline describing them as a professional as well as an
interesting fact about themselves.

New employees are also given a ‘New Hire Onboarding

Roadmap’- designed to help their transition into the company.
It’s a week-by-week guide that supports them to be productive
and successful in their new role.

1. Pre-arrival
Stage

2. Encounter
Stage

3. Metamorphosis
Stage
The Stages of Socialization
• Pre-arrival Stage:
This stage recognises that all new recruits arrive in the
organisation with a set of values, norms, expectationsand learnings.
In other words pre-arrival refers to all the learning that happens
before the employee joins an organisation.

• Encounter Stage:
Upon entry into organisation, the new member enters the
encounter stage. The role playing starts here. The member starts
comparing expectations, the image of the organisation which he
had formed during pre-arrival phase with reality.

The Stages of Socialization
• Metamorphosis Stage:
In this stage, the member masters the skills required to adjust with
the organisation’s norms and values. This is a stage going through
changes. Hence, this is called metamorphosis stage.
This is, of course, a voluntary process and a conscious decision
which enables the new member to become compatible with the
organisation. This signals the completion of socialisation process.

Conclusion
“Though still viewed as the missing link between
recruitment and retention,organisational induction
programmes have recently acquired a new function: they can
mould the new employee by inducing a positive first
impression about the organisation and presenting a caring
company image.”
