Michael Cohen is a lawyer who served as the personal counsel to Donald Trump from 2006 to 2018, describing himself in his memoir as Trump’s “designated thug”. Cohen was sentenced in 2018 to three years in prison after pleading guilty to eight charges including violating campaign finances and lying to Congress. In May 2024 he appeared as a witness against Trump, alleging that he paid the porn star, Stormy Daniels, to remain silent about her sexual encounter with Trump.
