Mpox, previously known as monkeypox, is a viral disease primarily spread through close contact with infected animals or humans. Symptoms include fever, a rash and swollen lymph nodes. While most cases are mild it can lead to severe illness, particularly in vulnerable populations such as children, pregnant women and individuals with suppressed immune systems. Vaccination and antiviral treatments can help manage the disease.
