Benjamin Mendy, born in 1994, is a French professional football player who plays for Ligue 2 club Lorient. In 2017 he moved from Monaco to Manchester City for a reported £52 million, which was a record fee for a defender at the time. In 2021, he was arrested on allegations of sexual offences and suspended by the club. He was acquitted of all charges in two trials in 2023 and was released by Man City in June that year after his contract expired. He has also played for Le Havre and Marseille.
