Robert Jenrick is the Conservative MP for Newark in Nottinghamshire, and previously served as immigration minister in Rishi Sunak’s cabinet. He resigned in December 2023 after Sunak tabled draft legislation for his Rwanda policy, which did not allow the government to override international laws stopping it from sending asylum seekers to east Africa.
