The 2024 US presidential election took place on November 5. Donald Trump, the Republican candidate, emerged victorious against the Democratic pick Kamala Harris. Around 86 million voters went to the polls to vote on key issues including inflation, reproductive healthcare, gun control and foreign policy. Trump and his running partner JD Vance won the electoral college majority with 295 votes against Harris and Tim Walz's 226 votes. Trump solidified his victory by claiming key swing states including North Carolina, Georgia, Pennsylvania, Wisconsin and Michigan. The third party candidates that ran for office were Chase Oliver, Jill Stein, Cornel West and Robert F Kennedy Jr, who suspended his campaign but said he would remain on the ballot in some states.
