New rules in European food law are intended to simplify procedures, enable innovation and secure supply. For consumers, this means less bureaucracy in the background, but new questions when shopping. Prof. Dr. Kai Purnhagen, an expert in food law from Bayreuth, draws attention to this.

The German Research Foundation (DFG) is funding the new research network "International Division of Labour (IDoL): New Challenges for Employees, Companies, and Policy Makers" with several million euros over four years. Prof. Dr Hartmut Egger, Chair of Economics at the University of Bayreuth, will coordinate the project and also play a central scientific role in terms of content.

The Bavarian Minister of State for Science and the Arts, Markus Blume, has appointed Alexander Bilgeri as a non-university member of the University Council of the University of Bayreuth. His term of office began on 1 January 2026 and ends on 31 December 2029. Bilgeri (51) is responsible for communications in the areas of human resources, production, purchasing, and sustainability at the BMW Group.
