Galveston Campus: Prado Walkway Closure Notification

Thursday, Oct 16, 2025 • 2:15 PM pvaldes

Beginning Wednesday, Oct. 22, at 3 PM, the Prado walkway—the area between Levin Hall and the Moody Medical Library stretching from the Rose Garden/circle drive at 10th & Market St. northward to the rear of the Keiller Building—will be closed to all pedestrian and vehicular traffic to facilitate the replacement of rooftop exhaust fans on the Keiller Building.

This closure is expected to last until Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2025 (the duration may be extended for high winds or inclement weather). To ensure safety, access around the fenced worksite will be closely monitored, especially during crane operations.

Key Impacts:

  • 10th & Market St. circle drive (Rose Garden area) will be closed to vehicles.
  • All traffic must reroute via 9th & Market St. circle drive (the employee drop off east of the Moody Medical Library).
  • Pedestrians should follow posted signage and directions from flagmen.
  • Deliveries will continue via 9th St., with coordination for GNL deliveries at its northwest corner.
  • The crane will be repositioned late Saturday or early Sunday to the south of the GNL, prompting a temporary switch: 10th St. will reopen and 9th St. will close until the project is complete.
  • Signage will be updated as needed throughout the project.

Please exercise caution/remain alert near the work zone. Thank you for your cooperation as we work to maintain and enhance our campus facilities.
