Description
As we begin thinking ahead to AsyncAPI Conference 2026, I’d like to open up a discussion around how we structure our events and how we can evolve based on what we’ve learned so far.
Currently, not all venues can support full tracks, which has prevented us from prioritizing introductory talks on AsyncAPI. With this improvisation during events, it’s become clear that many attendees are encountering AsyncAPI for the first time. This means we’re missing a valuable opportunity to bring new people into the ecosystem in a meaningful way by having these kinds of introduction talks that provide an overview of AsyncAPI and the community.
Back in 2023, we had companies sponsor the venue, and AsyncAPI Conf provided the branding and speakers. While those events were relatively small, the intimacy and quality of conversations, networking, and hands-on learning were incredibly valuable. This model also allowed us to run a dedicated AsyncAPI track fully, and we had enough time to really have detailed talks/content and introductory talks.
Looking ahead, I’d like to propose a more updated model that builds on the best of what we’ve learned:
- Continue with conference partners, but select venues that can accommodate a full track or allow us more time in the agenda.
- Continue with the AsyncAPI Online Conference.
- Re-introduce a fully AsyncAPI-hosted in-person track, ideally co-located with a hosting company (like we did in 2023), where we have full control over the content and structure, ensuring we can include intros, deep-dives, and everything in between (ie, Ambassador Panels).
- Have the AsyncAPI Meetup section (currently implementation is in progress AsyncAPI Meetups Section conference-website#604)
This is just the beginning of the conversation, and I’d love to hear your thoughts and your ideas!
