  • Trung, one of our main organisers, has been travelling non stop lately and sharing a lot about modern web development across different events. Always nice to see our own community member bringing Singapore's voice to conferences around the world.

Finishing my first DevFest Singapore and I really wish I had joined earlier. Year end is always packed and the past few years I was travelling for other conferences, so I kept missing it. DevFest Singapore 2025 was very well organised and handled by a passionate team that we have seen for many years. Joshua Tan, Daniel Low, Isuru Abeywardana, Avelynn Lee, Chen Hsiao Ting, and everyone involved, massive effort and really well done. About my talk, this was already my 4th talk in November, and none of them were the same. I spoke about perceived performance and CSS at Øredev. Then Temporal and handling date time in JS in Tokyo last week. And this week, Chrome DevTools with AI, plus the DevTools tricks I feel we are still not using enough as engineers: logpoints, changing program behaviour at runtime, overriding HTTP headers and content, and a few more things that save a lot of time. I hope it was a light session without too much deep technical content, and that you learned something and had fun. The first few minutes of the demo were a bit hiccup because I had to look at the big screen while typing on my laptop. Wasted a few minutes scrambling and should have mirrored my screen earlier. But phew, got through the full demo and shared what I wanted to share. I also did not expect so many of you to come up after the talk for photos and questions. That really felt great. Thanks to everyone who stopped by. 👉 Here is my slide and all the resources: http://trungvose.com/sg25 🎉 And yes, the will you be my girlfriend demo is also in the link above. But if you are specifically looking for that demo, here is the CodePen (hope you like the music from See Tình too): https://lnkd.in/gSt9yRiX And of course, always a joy to catch up and have friends supporting my talk. It really means a lot. Heman Daney Julius Uy Tamas P. Eileen Chua

  • Thanks everyone for coming to the Angular Singapore meetup yesterday! Really appreciate all of you for spending your evening with us. Special thanks to our speakers: - Pankaj Parkar, for the super insightful session on Zoneless and Local Change Detection. - Eileen Chua, for walking us through what is new and exciting in Angular 20, and for also taking care of most the logistics while doing speaker duty since Trung Vo had to leave a bit early. Big thanks as well to Thoughtworks for sponsoring the venue. The space was great and made the event feel very cosy. cc Nate Lee 😆 Hope you all had a good time, picked up something useful, and of course enjoyed the bánh mì during the break (I dropped the shop address in the comment if you to check it out). See you at the next one!

  • Each #Angular release is a step forward in the journey to Zoneless, and towards better web performance and developer experience. But what is Zone? Zone.js is a library that powers change detection in Angular — this is how websites sync with our code and it is a core part of the framework. While Zone has made it easy for application development, Zoneless in Angular means more fine grained reactivity in change detection. Angular 20 is major milestone in this journey. Starting from the introduction of Angular Signals in v16 when we first mentioned about Zoneless with the Angular Singapore community, Zoneless is now in developer preview. To understand why we are focusing on Zone & Zoneless, our Google Developer Expert in Angular Pankaj Parkar will walk us through on how Zone and change detection works in Angular. We will also be sharing about the latest Angular framework updates in this meetup. Don't miss it! Date: 17 July 2025 (Thurs) Venue: Thoughtworks (18 Cross St, # 12-01 Exchange, Singapore 048423) Time: 6.30pm - 8.30pm Event starts at 7pm. • Hello Angular people, how is it going? It has been a couple of months since our last event, and with Angular 20 just released, this feels like the perfect time to run a new meetup. In this session, our co-founder Eileen Chua will walk us through the cool new stuff in Angular 20 — from the latest changes to what is coming next. Some folks are even flying in from overseas, and you will definitely spot a few familiar faces from the Angular Singapore community! Yes, food will be provided (you guessed it — Vietnamese bánh mì 🥖). Just a heads up: the food is covered from our own Angular Singapore budget, so we will not be able to cater for 50 people. Come early! Special thanks to Thoughtworks for sponsoring the venue — right in the central area! Supported by: Women Devs SG Agenda 6:30 PM – Registration and mingling 🍕🥖 Food will be provided, so come early and hang out 7:00 PM – Event begins 8:20 PM – Closing remarks and group photo Sign up here: https://lnkd.in/gtPFiVaS — About Angular Singapore Angular Singapore, co-founded by Trung Vo and Eileen Chua and in 2021, is deeply committed to advocating for and nurturing the web developer community in Singapore Join us on Telegram: https://t.me/angularsg Follow us on X: https://lnkd.in/gQ-vYYMh

  • Angular v20 has been out for a week — have you tried it yet? What are your favourite features from this release? A few highlights: - Stable APIs: effect, linkedSignal, toSignal, incremental hydration, route-level render mode config. Zoneless mode is now in developer preview. - Better debugging: Angular DevTools has improved, and there is now custom Angular reporting built right into Chrome DevTools (in partnership with the Chrome team). - Smoother developer experience: updated style guide, improved type checking and language service support (including for host bindings), untagged template literals now supported in templates, hot module replacement on by default — and more. 👉 https://lnkd.in/eqXn3vHB

  • Great seeing some of our community members today at talk.js. Trung Vo and Eileen Chua are getting ready for the next AngularSG meetup soon — stay tuned!

That wraps up talk.js. Thanks everyone for coming! Big thanks to Ivan Maulana Putra and Michael Cheng for sharing two very different but equally thoughtful takes on building better web experiences — from evolving rendering strategies to building content sites with Astro. AI might be the hot thing now, but all those questions after both talks showed people are still very much into the web. Huge thanks to the Rakuten Asia Pte Ltd team for hosting us, and to everyone who showed up tonight. It was great to see so many familiar faces from the last talk.js in August 2024 and catch up with friends Chee Zhiquan Daryll Santos Eileen Chua Jia Hao Teo Supun Sashika 😁😁😁 If today was your first time, glad you could join us Arshan Shaikh Luck-Koong Bu Sravya Chodisetti, see you at the next one!
