USBGUARD segmentation faults upon device unblock #639

@Don-E-Moser

Description

@Don-E-Moser

I am using using usbguard on a Panasonic ToughBook FZ55 running Ubuntu 20.04.

via dpkg I get: (dpkg -l)

usbguard 0.7.6+ds-1build1 amd64 USB device authorization policy frarmework

All seems to work ok until I attempt to unblock a StartTech ICUSB422 RS422 to USB device.

If I execute the follownig command:

sudo usbguard list-deviices | grep block

I receive the following: (as expected)

18: block id 0403:6001 serial "AB0NDKMD" name "FT232R USB UART" hash "+imOO0Fvqlr0/yU497EPHwA7TwCHAU4N+Np5PrTHt5M=" parent-hash "jEP/6WzviqdJ5VSeTUY8PatCNBKeaREvo2OqdplND/o=" via-port "3-1" with-interface ff:ff:ff with-connect-type "hotplug"

When I attempt to unblock with the following

sudo usbguard allow-device 18

I received:usbguard allow-device 18
Segmentation fault (core dumped)

If I connect a different RS422 to USB device by Advanced Navigation and perform the unblock operation all is fine AND the proper device driver in /dev is created.

If I remove the usbguard package and insert the device from StarTech all is well and the proper device driver is created (and works)

Can you help with this issue? I need this application to meet my Cyber requirements.

Thanks,

Don Moser
