Description
Website (required)
VocaDB
Describe the bug (required)
VocaDB adds an affiliate tag (vocvocdat-20) on every Amazon.com (and potentially Amazon.co.jp) URLs. These affiliate links should be stated clearly as affiliate links, following the norm of affiliate links and the agreement on the Amazon affiliate program
To Reproduce (optional)
Steps to reproduce the behavior:
- Go to an entry that has an Amazon.com link. (e.g. https://vocadb.net/Al/12668)
- Check the URL of the link of Amazon.com and ensure that it has the affiliate tag. (e.g.
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00Y1EGWF8/?tag=vocvocdat-20)
Expected behavior (optional)
There should be a notice close to the links (like a tooltip when hovering) that these are affiliate links, or the affiliate (e.g. VocaDB or the site owners) earn from the qualifying sales (or something of "your purchases supports the site")
Additional context (optional)
There's this section on the Associates Program Operating Agreement.
- Identifying Yourself as an Associate
You must clearly and prominently state the following, or any substantially similar statement previously allowed under this Agreement, on your Site or any other location where Amazon may authorize your display or other use of Program Content: “As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases.”
Also see "Why do I have to identify myself as an Associate? How should I do this on social media?".
