Description
I saw, and enjoyed, your talk about sly at http://pyvideo.org/video/3379/from-code-to-coffee-table-with-blender-and-sly.
I think I would like to contribute but I am very much an amateur with software development.
One of the things I am interested in is seeing a todo list or maybe a road map. Is there much that you really want to do with this beyond the sort of egg crate coffee table you built? (I think the coffee table looks really sharp by the way, I hope you are getting opportunities to show it off / make some more nice stuff) I have had the opportunity to play with a big commercial CNC and some of the commercial cabinet design software. I have used Cabinet Vision some and seen a little of eCabinets. They are incredible and powerful pieces of software but have a prices and learning curves to match (with little in the way of free online resources).
So, I am requesting a todo list that includes some things like:
- A little better documentation.
- A list of application sly could be used for (or maybe construction methods).
-- More traditional cabinetry
-- Stacked laminate construction
-- Egg create construction - Blender GUI integration
- Some helpful CAD like features for Blender
- CAM features
Again, I enjoyed the talk. Thank you for your time. It sounds like you have an actual day job so I understand you might not have infinite time to work with a neophyte like me but I would like to get a little more involved in some of the open source projects. I have some experience with git (strictly using it locally with stuff I am working on), python (all self taught and little collaboration with others), some blender, some CNC (little desktop and a little less giant commercial).
