Description
Hoo boy, this is a weird one.
- Trio v0.6.0.1 (browser build)
- xDrip with Dexcom G6 (browser build), with no Dexcom app locally installed
- iPhone 15 Plus with iOS 26.0.1
Pod 1
'Twas time for a site change. I'm distracted as I go through the motions, and end up attaching the pod before priming it. The app throws me some sort of error, and I wonder if the app can detect an unprimed pod.
I dispose of Pod 1.
Pod 2
I fill another pod, and retry the priming sequence without cancelling out of it. The pod primes successfully, and I think I'm in the clear, but then I hear beep-BEEEEEP-beep-beep, beep-BEEEEEP-beep-beep.
I check my phone lockscreen for notifications. There aren't any.
A couple minutes later: beep-BEEEEEP-beep-beep, beep-BEEEEEP-beep-beep.
Naturally, I whip out the python interpreter on my phone and start printing datetime.datetime.now() when I hear the beep-BEEEEEP-beep-beep, beep-BEEEEEP-beep-beep. :-). The beep-BEEEEEP-beep-beep, beep-BEEEEEP-beep-beeps are coming every 5 minutes.
I use the app to stop the pod, and I dispose of Pod 2.
Pod 3
I fill another pod. Surely now I'm in the clear? But no. Soon enough, I hear beep-BEEEEEP-beep-beep, beep-BEEEEEP-beep-beep. As before, they come every 5 minutes.
Son of a gun.
I use the app to stop the pod, I reboot my phone, and I dispose of Pod 3.
I am pretty sure that Pod 3 beeps a final time after it has been deactivated.
Pod 4
I fill another pod, and I set a 5-minute countdown timer the moment I insert. The time doesn't have a chance to go off before I hear beep-BEEEEEP-beep-beep, beep-BEEEEEP-beep-beep.
Man! After a reboot?!
I am curious about why the pod kicked off the beep-BEEEEEP-beep-beep, beep-BEEEEEP-beep-beep before it had been running for 5 minutes, and, with more data, it dawns on me: the pod starts beeping a couple of seconds before xDrip gets a BG. Indeed, the beep-BEEEEEP-beep-beep, beep-BEEEEEP-beep-beep ends and the BG shows up milliseconds later.
I am baffled. I log on to Github to rebuild Trio because... well... I need to try something new and I'm not sure what else to try. My lucky day: a scheduled build kicked off 30 minutes ago. :D
I use the app to stop the pod. I reboot my phone. Pod 4 definitely throws down a beep-BEEEEEP-beep-beep, beep-BEEEEEP-beep-beep as my phone is rebooting. I wasn't timing it, but it seems to come well before the 5 minute mark. I install the new build, and I reboot my phone again.
I dispose of Pod 4.
Pod 5
I open up the freshly-built app, and get a "No pod" notification. I fill and apply Pod 5. I sourced Pod 5 from a different box/lot of pods. Pods 1-4 were the 6th, 7th, 8th and 9th pods from the same box. I had no issues with the first five pods.
I set a 5-minute countdown timer the moment the pod inserts.
- A BG is received silently.
- The 5-minute timer expires without any beeps
- AND FOR HEAVEN'S SAKE, it's beep-BEEEEEP-beep-beep, beep-BEEEEEP-beep-beep, as xDrip receives the second BG.
- I would love to share my inner dialog with you all at this point, but I have to censor it: 'BLEEP BLEEEEEEP BLEEP BLEEP!!!'. ;-)
- A third BG is received silently. (Uhh... huh?). (At this point, I ask myself if I might have heard Pod 4 beeping. I don't think it was Pod 4, but it would seem to make the most sense.)
- Trio loops, and the pod is silent.
- I receive a fourth BG, and the pod is silent.
- I receive a fifth BG, and it's back to beep-BEEEEEP-beep-beep, beep-BEEEEEP-beep-beep. It's definitely Pod 5. Sob.
- The 6th BG is received silently.
- The 7th BG is received silently.
- The 8th BG is welcomed by a beep-BEEEEEP-beep-beep, beep-BEEEEEP-beep-beep. It seems this pod is beeping on 15-minute intervals. (?!?!?!)
Right then. I yield. I will deactivate pod 5, and snap the piezo connection on Pod 6. I will be grateful (and desparate!) for any suggestions. I realize I can uninstall Trio completely and then reinstall it, but I'll give it a couple of days before I try that. :(
I saved the log, and can attach it if it’s helpful.
I'm hopeful you will all understand if I don't try to reproduce this. :-)
[2am edit: pod 5 continues to beep. No idea why. I will snap its piezo connection as well.]
[2:15am edit: it may not have been pod 5. It’s possible I have mixed up the pods. I didn’t label them and it’s dark o’clock, so there’s a groggy/confusion factor. That might make more sense - the 15-minute alert window may have been an older pod tuckering out.]
