Poker playing entrepreneur turned coder with a passion for business, technology and the internet. I've founded a start-up, been a professional poker player for three years and a private maths tutor in between. Now I have finished a web development bootcamp at Makers Academy and I want to use my skills to work with people who love what they do and come together to create awesome products and services.
Confident in front-end and back-end test driven web development with Ruby, Rails, JavaScript, jQuery, AngularJS, Node.js, RSpec, Jasmine, Capybara and Cucumber.
- Feast Beast (Ruby on Rails, Javascript & jQuery)
- NapStop (Javascipt, jQuery & AngularJS)
- Bowling Scorecard (JavaScript & jQuery)
- To-Do List (JavaScript & AngularJS)
This is the common theme running through all my endeavours and I believe it is my greatest strength.
- Makers Academy was all about using the tools, techniques and technologies we learnt to solve problems both individually, in pairs and in groups.
- Poker demanded my full attention and ability to solve problems on the spot, quickly and effectively under pressure.
- Starting a business required me to always be creative in coming up with solutions to the endless stream of problems. One example is offering student halls free advertising space in exchange for free distribution of our student publication.
- When tutoring I found ways to engage students by creating personalised lessons they found fun and interesting.
