Gitpod "Classic" is now deprecated and will be removed on October 15, 2025.

People are already being confused by visiting gitpod and getting told about "gitpod flex", which isn't a related item.

• We can build a new base image for folks to use with devcontainers, the Gitpod code is at GitHub workspace-images/base at main · gitpod-io/workspace-images - it’s based on buildpack-deps, which is multi-arch, so should work fine.
• Update codespaces docs and build to use the new devcontainers image.

I think we should probably remove

• Docs about gitpod (install, etc.)
• ddev-gitpod-base base image Dockerfile and build (although we probably need a replacement to use for the devcontainers extensions). (Don't remove existing images, but move on to new one for devcontainers)
• ddev/ddev-gitpod-launcher is probably already obsolete and can be updated and archived.
