It is not possible to deduce that there is an issue with audio before actually joining the meeting (the infamous "can you hear me? No, I am not muted")

An option to have loop-back audio check after selecting the audio source and sink, but before joining the meeting

No real alternatives considered. BigBlueButton has that feature though and it is very helpful
