avar font engineers can use a tool that tells there where a variation location will map to after applying avar mappings, per-axis mapping and cross-axes mapping.
The normalized locations are of less use than denormalized values. I'm leaning towards only scaling to min/default/max and not unmap the per-axis (avar1) mapping when showing this location.
I like to know which module to put this on. varLib.avar already feels crowded by performing too actions: either add an avar table to a font from .designspace file, or if no .designspace file is provided, just print the avar table mappings to the output.
