On 64-bit Ubuntu 14.04, did the following:
1- Installed GUN ARM tool chain, following https://launchpad.net/~terry.guo/+archive/ubuntu/gcc-arm-embedded
2- Installed 32 bit libraries, sudo apt-get install lib32z1 lib32ncurses5 lib32bz2-1.0
3- Installed usblib, sudo apt-get install libusb-1.0
4- Got the latest st-link and built it, i.e., (
git clone git://github.com/texane/stlink.git
$ sudo apt-get install libusb-1.0
$ sudo apt-get install autoreconf
$ cd stlink
$ ./autogen.sh
$ ./configure
$ make
$ sudo cp 49-stlinkv2-1.rules /etc/udev/rules.d
$ sudo udevadm control --reload-rules
$ sudo udevadm trigger

And am getting this:
