Pipe puffs aren't stored, they're just defaulted to 4 on script load. This also isn't reset when you configure a new pipe, so the pipe isn't filled automatically. This is okay with people with plist, since you can just manually fill what you want and then check PLIST. Without plist, you'd have to manually configure, then manually fill each pipe the first time.
