Clearly define real vs complex. #64

@Jakob-Unfried

Description

@Jakob-Unfried
  • Do we deal with real vector spaces at all?
    The representation theory of the groups over the real numbers is in general different...
    E.g. for U(1), all real irreps, except the trivial one, are two-dimensional...
  • What exactly does a real dtype mean? in particular for symmetries with complex fusion tensors? The most sensible notion that I (Jakob) can think of is that the free parameters (blocks) just happen to have zero imaginary part, even though they could in principle be complex. E.g. we can think of the singular values as a complex matrix, whose entries happen to be purely real.
  • support dtype conversion?
