It is one of the key features of orthodox file managers, even the old MS-DOS ones, that they make archives behave like directories. You can open them, browse them, use the function keys to copy things into and out of them, etc. Midnight Commander does this, Krusader does this, Total Commander for Windows does this, DOS Navigator does this, I think even Norton Commander in the early '90s did this. vifm does not handle archives at all in its base form, and the pack plugin only allows you to do very simple operations without "mounting" the archive as a directory. Being able to do this with common archive formats would make this file manager far more useful and convenient for me, especially as one of the primary things I do with the file manager is work with zip files containing game mods and other downloads.
