| 2 days ago | mod | Removed Comment You act like there's some sort of hidden third alternative. Our choices are the Democrats and the Republicans, and the Democrats want to kill far fewer people than the Republicans. The choice is pretty straightforward in that light.
And no, third parties aren't a viable alternative, nor is not voting. Like it or not, the political realities of a first-past-the-post system mean that denying a vote to one side actively aids and abets the other.
The real answer to reform is by primarying out centrist Democrats in favor of more progressive candidates, moving the party left from within, in the hope of eventually reforming away from a FPTP system in favor of something more equitable. It's not going to be quick or easy, but there's not really much other choice, barring some sort of violent revolution, which would likely kill a whole lot of people in its own right, and would most likely result in some sort of autocracy anyway.
